Obituary of Marlene J. O'Brien

Please share a memory of Marlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marlene O'Brien, age 73, of Clifton Park passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 15, 2015. Born in Schenectady, Marlene was the daughter of the late Peter and Angeline DeCerbo. Marlene was predeceased by her cousin and soul mate Louise Gallo. A mother first, who was devoted to raising her children and instilling in them strong family values, Marlene was also a partner with her husband in The Jamison Group, Inc. She loved vacationing at the family’s Adirondack summer home and exploring Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. They found kindness and compassion in her embrace and hope and courage in her eyes. In her presence, they all felt secure and deeply loved. Also, Nana was the best cook ever. Marlene celebrated her Catholic faith by being a role model for her family and all who knew her. While many are known by what they say or what they do, Marlene was known simply by who she was. Marlene is survived by her husband of 49 years, James O'Brien, daughters Lori Frain (William), Kathleen Crouth (Anthony) and son Peter. She was the cherished Nana to Andrew, John and Katherine Frain and Hayley, Meghan and Laura Crouth. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Crescent, 86 Church Hill Rd., in Halfmoon. A funeral mass celebrating Marlene's wonderful and faith filled life will be offered on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
