Obituary of John J. Stewart

John J. “Jack” Stewart, age 91 of Loudonville passed away on Tuesday January 12, 2016. He was born on November 19, 1924 in Troy, the son of the late Francis and Lillian Stewart. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jacqueline Stewart, brother Charles Stewart, and grandsons Robert and Christopher Stewart. Jack graduated from the LaSalle Institute in 1943 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in the fall of 1943. He served on an air craft carrier until 1946. Jack was later employed by the GE Knolls Atomic Power Lab and retired in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Stewart, sons Richard (Elizabeth), Gary (Linda), and Michael (Regina) Stewart, brother James Stewart, and grandchildren Jody Scott, and James, Jeremy and Andrew Stewart. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Kyle and Dylan Scott, and Brianna Stewart. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m., with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 23 Crumitie Road in Loudonville. Entombment will be in the St. Agnes mausoleum in Menands. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehab Center for their care and compassion given to Jack for the last 5 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Colman’s Home, Autistic Program, 11 Haswell Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189.
