Richard W. Louis Sr., age 74, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born on July 25, 1941 in Albany, he was the son of the late George and Catherine Louis. Rich began his career working at the family business, George’s Supermarket in Albany. He then became the coordinator for the Albany County Meals on Wheels program. He spent the majority of his career as an accountant for the Albany County Dept. of Social Services and retired in 2004. He was a member of the Colonie Elks Club and Knights of Columbus, and was an avid NY Giants and Yankees fan. He loved nothing more than getting his whole family together for vacations or parties, and there were many. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Louis, and his loving children, daughters Jill (Russell) Irving, and Jennifer (Michael) Louis-Brown, son Richard (Laura) Louis, Jr., and brothers Robert (Cindy) Louis, and Ronald Louis. He was the adoring grandfather “Poppy” of Nicole, Jess, Riley, Madelyn, Clare, Emily, and Christian. Services will be private at the request of the family, officiated by Fr. Mark Reamer of the Franciscan Order at Siena College. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at NYOH and the ICU and Hospice Inn staff at St. Peter’s Hospital. Donations may be made in Richard’s memory to The Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
