William G. “Bill” Van Pelt, age 91 of Clifton Park passed away peacefully at home on Monday April 4, 2016. He was born on October 7, 1924 in Albany, the son of the late George and Carol Van Pelt. He was predeceased by his sons Robert and Daniel Van Pelt, and sister Janice. Bill served in the US Navy during WWII and went on to earn his degree from the NYS Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in Utica. He was employed by the SS Pierce Food Service Co. for over 40 years, retiring as a manager. Bill was the patriarch of the family and known for his integrity, and he instilled this virtue to his children and the rest of the family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved his camp on Crooked Lake. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Carrier Van Pelt, sons William (Kim) Van Pelt, Richard (Kimberly) Van Pelt, Raymond (Steven) Carrier, Donald (Katherine) Carrier, his daughter Lisa (Tony) Marrano, daughters in law Kathleen (the late Daniel) Van Pelt, and Dawn (the late Robert) Van Pelt. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tiffany (Dave), Rob (Sujathi), Stephen (Gen), Krysten (Ed), Christopher (Kat), Matthew (Courtney), Michelle, Travis (Natasha), Christy, Liam, Tony, Michael, and Larissa, great-grandchildren Colin, Sydney, Hayden, and Alex, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Carol and Pat of the Community Hospice for all of their excellent care that they provided Bill. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
