John R. Ordemann, age 83 of Clifton Park passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Born in 1933, he was the son of the late John and Margarete Ordemann. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ordemann. John served in the US Army during the Korean War, before embarking on a 20 year career with the Air Force, during which he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Retiring as a Major, he was highly decorated and his name is included on the Mackay Trophy in the Smithsonian Institute. He most recently worked for the Xerox Corp. in Albany for 20 years. During retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and poker with his close circle of friends. He is survived by his daughter Karen (Drew) Armitage, son Dale (Christine) Ordemann, brother Harry Ordemann, grandchildren John (Ashley), Kate, Megan, and Tara, sister-in-law Sandy, niece Traci, and nephew Scott. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, in Clifton Park, with a funeral service on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jonesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
