Louis Palmer, age 88 of Mechanicville passed into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 18, 2016 at Samaritan Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Elsie Palmer, his mother Madeline Capuano, step-father Serafino Capuano, brother Rev. Henry Palmieri, and sister Mary McElroy. Louie began working at a very young age to help support his family. He retired from the Grand Union Co. after many years of service. He enjoyed many family trips, camping in Vermont, and cruising in the Caribbean with his wife. He was a former member and trustee of the Northway Bible Chapel. Lou was an avid Yankees fan and was affectionately known as “Grampie” by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored. He is survived by his children Linda (Rev. James) Harrington, Judy (Jack) Ceremuga, and Gary (Celia) Palmer, siblings Dominick (Mary) Capuano, Santa Capuano, Madeline (Ed) LaCasse, and Carl (Cindi) Capuano, sister-in-law Ellen Palmieri, grandchildren Scott (Rebecca) Ceremuga, Amy (Erik) Smith, Alicia (Mike) Willis, Craig Ceremuga, Ilissa Palmer, Ashley (Tim) Campbell, and Christian Palmer. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Diane Bertrand, for all of the excellent care she provided. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park. The family will be receiving guests on Thursday at 10 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hudson View Cemetery in Mechanicville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Hochstein School of Music and Dance, 50 Plymouth Ave No., Rochester, NY 14614.
