John C. Ventrano, age 73 of Coburg Village, previously of Patchogue, Long Island passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Ellis Hospital. Born on July 8, 1943, he was the son of the late John and Rose Ventrano. He was predeceased by his sister Christina Line. John started his career with Grumman on Long Island, working as an avionics installer, primarily on the F14 and the A-6 Intruder. After 20 years at Grumman, he worked as a physics tech in radiation oncology at Stony Brook University Hospital and retired in 1999. John was a volunteer auxiliary policeman in Suffolk County, and volunteered as a Cub Scout master and coached many Little League teams in Patchogue for many years. He also enjoyed bowling, spending time with his family, and caring for his pets. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Caroline Ventrano, sons David (Michelle) Ventrano and Matthew Ventrano, brothers Gary and Richard Ventrano, and his grandchildren Anthony, Alyssa, Sabrina, and Sophia. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a funeral mass Thursday at 9 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Glenville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center, 33 Warner Rd, Huntington, NY 11743, or by going to littleshelter.com/donate.
