Rose Acunzo, age 87 of Albany passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Teresian House. She was born on March 23, 1930 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Gorini. She was predeceased by her husband Jerry Acunzo and her siblings Katie Carbone, Helen Reale, Josephine Rabaglia, Jennie Mattiello, and Mary, Joseph, Vincent, and Louis Gorini. Rose enjoyed working in the cafeteria at Tottenville High School in Staten Island for many years. She also painted and refurbished religious statues in several churches in Brooklyn. She loved to play bingo at the Teresian House, where she spent the last 10 years. She is survived by her daughter AnnMarie (Charles) Abel, brother Paul Gorini, grandchildren Stefanie (Jeremy) Rawls, Charles (Amanda) Abel, and Christopher (Jennifer) Abel, and great-grandchildren Izabel and Clayton Rawls. A calling hour will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Teresian House, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that individuals perform a gracious and kind act toward another. Donations may also be made in her memory to the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave Ext, Albany, NY 12203, or to Corpus Christi Church, 2001 Route 9, Round Lake, NY 12151.
