Obituary of Russell R. Poore

Russell R. Poore, age 65 of East Meadow passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017. Born in 1951, he was the son of the late Charles and Alda Poore. He was pre-deceased by his sister-in-law Julianne Poore.

Russell worked as a firefighter in NYC for 20 years. He was best known for his unending devotion to family and friends, his beautiful artwork and sculptures, and his unrelenting supply of jokes.

He is survived by his siblings, Linda (Richard) Girardin, Charles Poore, Arthur Poore, Alda (George) Rottkamp, John (Theresa) Poore, and Glenn (Susan) Poore, and his former wife, Alison Poore. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Lauren, Brian, Michael, Colin, Taylor, Dylan, Sean, George, Janel, Kelsey, Kyle, Kaitlin, and Keaton, and great-nephews, Aiden and Atlas.

The family will be receiving guests at the Copiague Christian Church, 250 Pinelawn Ave, in Copiague, NY on Wednesday, August 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday, August 31, from 12 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association Long Island, 425 Broadhollow Road, Suite 307, Melville, NY 11747 or by going to alz.org/longisland.
