Edward L Sagendorf, 72, of Halfmoon passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13th at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on August 12th, 1945, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Sagendorf. He was predeceased by his sister Gail Stoliker. 

Ed served on the Albany City Police Dept for 33 years retiring in 2005. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the Adirondack Woodsmen. Ed cherished the memories made with his family during his many summers spent at Harris Lake in Newcomb, NY. Family was what he treasured most. He will be remembered for his strength and quiet but witty sense of humor that lasted right through his final days.

He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 52 years, Mary Cody Sagendorf, his beloved children Lawrence Sagendorf and his wife Amy of Colonie and Stephanie Spiak and her husband Michael of Clifton Park and his cherished grandchildren Carly and Lawrence Sagendorf and Mikayla and Landon Spiak. He is also survived by his brother Kevin Sagendorf and his wife Linda of Snyder’s Lake, nephews and niece John and Chad Stoliker and Jared and Rebecca Sagendorf, several cousins and many wonderful friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9 in Clifton Park, with a memorial Mass on Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Crescent. Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
