Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie Estelle Jones Colpoys, 87, of Clifton Park died peacefully after a short illness at Ellis Hospital on early Thursday morning December 11, 2014. Born February 4, 1927 in Troy, NY, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Daniel Earl and Martha Magdalene Greenwood Jones. She graduated from Watervliet High School in 1945. After high school, Marjorie worked in the New York State Capital as a secretary for the Governor’s Post War Planning Commission. In 1945 she met and fell in love with John Robert Colpoys, an ensign with the Merchant Marines. They married on April 22, 1946. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She organized many family gatherings, and her favorite time of year was Christmas because she wanted to see the expression of her children’s and grandchildren’s faces when they opened the presents she gave them. Marjorie loved giving and bringing joy to others. Her brightness, cheer and love will be greatly missed by her family during this holiday season. Marjorie and her husband John Robert were avid boaters. They had a boat on Lake George for several years where Marjorie shared many happy memories with friends and family. She and her husband were also longtime members of the Schenectady Yacht Club. They also spent many winters vacationing in Florida together. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, John Robert. In addition to her loving husband, Marjorie is survived by her daughter Bonnie Lynne (Dave) Davis; her sons Daniel Robert Colpoys; David John (Melanie) Colpoys; Douglas James (Tammy) Colpoys and six grandchildren, Suzanne Elizabeth Davis, Daniel Jonathan Davis, Robert Daniel Colpoys, Ian David Colpoys, Alexis Shae Colpoys, and Allison Victoria Alexander. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her doctors, nurses and all who cared for her at Ellis Hospital. They would also like to thank all the friends that have offered support and prayers. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a funeral service on Monday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church in Burnt Hills. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
