Please share a memory of Theresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Theresa (Lynch) Freiberger, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family while in Hospice care at St. Peter's hospital on Monday, April 14, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Terry was born in East Meadow, NY and was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Wolf) Lynch. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna (Kevin) Griffin and Dawn Freiberger as well as her grandchildren, Allison McElligott, Meghan McElligott, Elizabeth McBain, John Griffin, Molly McBain and Kathleen Griffin and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 64 years, Donald, almost a year ago to the day. They are now finally reunited. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Mary Lynch, Margaret (Charlie) Tilton, Howard Lynch, John (Clara) Lynch, Edward (Madeline) Lynch. After high school, Terry worked as an administrative assistant for Liberty Mutual then Grumman Aircraft. It was at Grumman where she met the love of her life, Don. They married on October 31, 1959. After the birth of Donna, Terry stayed home to take care of her children in their home of West Islip, NY. They lived on Long Island until 1970 when Don and Terry moved their young family to rural Jefferson, NY where they owned and managed the town's General Store. Their time in Jefferson was full of fun and many friends. In 1981, they moved to Clifton Park, NY where they made their home until early 2023. After the sale of the General Store, Terry went back to work as an Administrative Assistant at the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development, Graham Laboratories, Jefferson Central School, Hills Brothers Coffee, and ultimately retiring from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Terry was active in the Jefferson Emergency Squad, National Grange of Jefferson, Clifton Park's American Legion Mohawk Post 1480, and other volunteer work. She loved to crochet baby blankets for her grandbabies and other new babies as well as completing many cross-stitch pieces in her day. Terry loved dancing with Don at parties and weddings. For many years, Terry and Don spent winters in Myrtle Beach, SC and enjoyed the large group of friends they had there! She had a very quick wit and could make many laugh. No one was safe from her practical jokes. Terry loved her daughters deeply and waited a long time to have grandbabies! When her long-time wish was finally granted, there were no other people she enjoyed spending time with more than her "babies". She loved to cook their favorite dinners, watching Disney and Lifetime movies, working on arts and crafts projects or just hanging out talking. For the past two years, Terry was a resident at Ingersoll Place in Schenectady, NY. We were so blessed that she and Don got to spend his last year together. We are so grateful to Ingersoll, especially Carrie and Pam who took such good care of our parents. We would also like to thank the St. Peter's Hospital nursing staff and the St. Peter's Hospital Hospice staff for taking such good care of Terry during her final days. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 10:00-12:00 noon at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon at the Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or The Community Hospice at communityhospice.org.
