Ruth E. Petuske Obituary

Ruth Evelyn Petuske, age 95, of Halfmoon, Passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025,

surrounded by her family. Ruth was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella May Chouiniere and was born in Cohoes, NY in April 1930. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Petuske, Jr, sister Marion and Walter Ropitzky, brother Arthur Chouiniere.

Throughout her life, Ruth worked hard to support her family. She held various jobs but no matter where she worked, Ruth always prioritized her family, making sure to provide for them in every way she could. Her dedication and work ethic were evident in everything she did, whether at home or on the job, and she always managed to balance her career with love and care she gave to her loved ones.

In May 1950, Ruth married the love of her life, Wilfred Petuske. After Willy returned from his service in 1954, the couple began working together at his family's Halfmoon Family Farm Stand, continuing a long tradition of providing fresh produce to the community. Ruth and Willy took great pride in growing their own fruits and vegetables, and for many years, they maintained the family farm as a labor of love while raising their children. The farm stand was not just a business but a central part of Ruth's life, and she loved connecting with the many people who visited over the years.

Known by many as "Mom" and "Rusty," Ruth touched the lives of everyone she met with her beautiful smile, light-hearted spirit, and warm presence. She had a unique ability to make people feel comfortable and loved, always providing a simple hug when needed, and always willing to offer a helping hand. Her strong sense of humor and infectious laugh created a presence that could light up any room.

Throughout her many years, Ruth's dedication to her family and community shone through in everything she did. Whether it was through acts of kindness, sharing a laugh, or simply offering a listening ear, Ruth made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her sister Shirley Bold (Chouiniere), sons, Robert Sr (Ginny), Richard (Michelle), her grandson Robert Jr. (Seranie), granddaughter April (Jason) and four great-children, Nicholas, Cooper, Tessa, and Kiersten, and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Calling hours will take place on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park NY 12065. Funeral service will be Friday morning at 9 am in the funeral home. The burial will follow at the B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Saratoga Hospice and/or Halfmoon Fire House.
