Thomas R. "Tom" Young, Jr, 89, of Clifton Park, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 27, 2025 at his home.

Tom was born in 1936 in Albany, NY, the son of the late Thomas R. and Catherine (Sheehy) Young. He graduated from Linton High in Schenectady, NY with the Class of 1955, and following graduation enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served with outstanding conduct until his honorable discharge in 1959.

Following his service to the country, Tom went to work for Acme Press in Schenectady, New York where he worked as a pressman. He married the love of his life, Lucy Lasher, on August 14, 1960, and together they went on to build a life together, raising 2 children, and enjoying watching their grandchildren grow. Tom also proudly served his community as a member of the Clifton Park Volunteer Fire Depeartment, and serving for a time as Chief.

When Tom wasn't at work, he loved to golf. He was also fond of the outdoors; camping, fishing, and enjoying the world around him. He also enjoyed travelling with Lucy, and together they saw much of the United States.

Tom leaves behind his wife of 64 years: Lucy Young; his two children: Jeffrey (Renee) Young, and Sharon (Thomas) Ruchlicki; his four grandchildren: Jessica (Ryan) Knutson, Emily and Erica Ruchlicki, and Morgan Chamberlain (fiancée Matthew VanGelder); and a great grandchild: Finnegan Knutson.

A committal service with military honors will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
