Eric Edward Hollenbeck Obituary

Corinth, NY –

Eric Edward Hollenbeck, 47, of Corinth, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at his home with his family at his side.

Eric was born in 1977 in Schenectady, NY to Kathleen M. (Fritz) Patentreger and the late David E. Hollenbeck. Eric earned his CDL Class A, and spent his career driving; he also became a Certified Driver Trainer of which he was very proud. Eric started dating his future wife, Amanda Brooks, in 2000, and they were married on April 23, 2011.

A larger-than-life presence, Eric was a man of the community. Not only did he take pride in helping people in his career, he had a habit of helping everyone do anything they needed. He was skilled in construction, and was often Mr. Fix-It, tinkering on all sorts of things, but his true gift was mechanics and small engines. He was constantly taking things apart, servicing, cleaning them, then putting them back together to give his friends and neighbors a product that was often better than new. He also took on the challenge of building a computer for his son, spending countless hours building with him.

Eric was also deeply passionate about his pets. He adored his current pets Rascal and Sparky, as well as his first pet Desi who meant the world to him. As much as he loved animals, he also had a green thumb, a trait he inherited from his parents. He was gifted at gardening and had an affinity for plants of all kinds. He was constantly at home in nature, and enjoyed being surrounded by it. Whether he was camping, fishing, hiking, or even just working in his garden, he appreciated every second. Eric was the chef for the household, both as the kitchen cook, and as the master of the grill. His main dish was a killer alfredo which he often made for his son.

He had a profound knowledge of history and law, and used that knowledge to help ensure his loved ones knew their rights. This deep love for history and law served as an inspiration which fueled his son's love for history.

He always enjoyed the little things in life. He loved things like watching Fox News every morning and going to Triangle Diner and ordering an Irish Benedict which he enjoyed with his family. He was devoted to his wife and had a wonderful sense of humor that his son inherited; he loved his son more than life itself. His entire family meant the world to him, and they all carry his legacy with them.

Eric is survived by his wife: Amanda Hollenbeck; his son: Noah Edward Hollenbeck, his mother: Kathleen Patentreger; his sister: Christina M. Conlon; two step-siblings: Lisa Patentreger and David (Amy) Patentreger; his father-in-law Michael Brooks Sr.; sister and brothers-in-law: Corrine Tario, Michael Brooks Jr., and Jacob Brooks; and his nieces and nephews: Alyssa Patentreger, Andrew Patentreger, Sgt. Vincent Tario, Alivia Bartelli, Giovanni Austin, Cayden Conlon, Jackson Conlon, and several Aunts and Uncles; also his longtime friend Chris Richardson.

A period of visitation will be held for Eric from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
