Theodore F. ("Ted") Parent, Sr., 101, entered into eternal life on July 29, 2025.
Born in Utica, New York, Ted was the son of the late Francis and Alma (Lussier) Parent. As the oldest of nine children, Ted helped raise his siblings. At the age of 18, Ted enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Ted proudly wore his U.S. Marine hat every day in his later years.
After he returned home from the war, Ted worked as a machinist in several area mills. He was a lifelong member and former Chief of the Halfmoon Fire Company.
In 1949, Ted married his sweetheart, Jennie "Jane" Parent and they resided in Halfmoon for 37 years, raising a family of five children. They later moved to Saratoga Springs and enjoyed another 25 years together living along Fish Creek. As Jane gradually lost her vision, Ted was at her side, helping her to do the things she loved. As Ted grew older and needed help, he was lovingly cared for by his daughter, Nola.
Ted was a lifelong dancer. He loved roller skating and spent many evenings at Guptill's rink in Latham showcasing his skating skills. Ted and Jane enjoyed dancing together, attending weekly square dances on Sundays in Schuylerville. The pair could be found on the dance floor at every occasion, where Ted would lead Jane across the floor in his own unique style.
Ted is survived by his children, Theodore F. Parent, Jr. (Erin) of Halfmoon, Gary E. Parent of Saratoga Springs, and Connie Nowakowski (Paul) of Clifton Park; his grandchildren Dennis Brown of Hudson, Shaun Parent of Ballston Lake, Jennifer Dugan of Glenville, Jesse Parent of Boston, and Andrew Parent of Halfmoon; his great-grandchildren Brody and Olivia Dugan, and Cameron, Carter and Cashius Parent; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Randy J. Parent (Sharon), his daughter Nola A. Parent, and all of his siblings, Valetta (Mary) Lague, Theresa Elliot, Leo (Paul) Parent, Wilford (Bob) Parent, Frank Parent, Clement Parent, Lionel Parent and Beatrice Charbonneau.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Ted's family for a period of visitation at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY on Tuesday, August 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 11:00 am.
