Barbara J. Carlin, 84, of Waterford, NY, passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2025 with her family by her side.

Barbara was born in Schenectady, NY on November 7, 1940, a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Putnam) Gwyn. She is also predeceased by her husbands: Roger Elwood and Peter P. Carlin, and her sister, Marilyn Sheriff.

Following her graduation from high school, she furthered her education by earning her Associate's Degree, and went to work for the Watervliet Arsenal. She married Roger Elwood, and they shared a life together until his death. In 1981, she remarried to Peter P. Carlin and remained wedded for 33 years until his death in 2014.

Barbara was a devout Christian and a member of the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church in Clifton Park. In later years, while living with her family, she attended Cavalry Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Schenectady. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, hiking, skiing, traveling, and reading.

Barbara is survived by a daughter: Allison (Jared) Tallman; and two grandchildren: Claire Tallman and Nolan Tallman, as well as several friends.

Barbara will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Peter, at Saratoga National Cemetery on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you please donate to Shenendehowa United Methodist Church (971 NY-146, Clifton Park, NY 12065) or Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church (1230 Rugby Road, Schenectady, NY 12308).
