Carl Calicchia passed away peacefully with his family at his side on September 27th, 2025.

He grew up in Clifton Park, NY, where his love for sports and the outdoors began at an early age. He embraced life to the fullest—every day was an adventure. Though his time with us was far too short, Carl touched countless lives along the way.

He traveled the world over the years and spent a meaningful period teaching children in Hawaii, a place that held a special place in his heart. Locally, he taught as a P.E. teacher and coached at numerous schools throughout the Capital Region, where he was beloved by students and colleagues alike.

For Carl, family always came first. As much as he loved to explore new places, he always came home to the people he loved. He is survived by his father, Carl Calicchia Jr.; his two sisters, Carla Duchessi (Torrey) and Christina; four nephews—Anthony (14), John (9), Michael (7), and Dominic (6); and his niece, Capria (13). Carl was a devoted and fun-loving uncle, always bringing joy and laughter to all.

Carl was predeceased by his mother, Cynthia A. Martuscello.

A passionate fan of the New York Giants and New York Yankees, Carl brought the same energy and loyalty to his teams as he did to the people in his life. Even under the toughest conditions, he fought hard until the very end.

Though his battle has ended, Carl's light and spirit will continue to shine through the lives he touched. A special thank you to the team's of Dr. Iwamoto and Dr. McKhann at Columbia University Medical Center for the exceptional kindness and care they have provided over the last three years.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park, NY 12065. A Memorial Mass will immediately follow at 11:00 AM.
