Kenneth J Cartledge Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" John Cartledge, 81, of Saratoga Springs, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Wesley Nursing Home, following a brief battle with cancer.

Born on August 8, 1944 in East Durham, New York, Ken was the son of the late John and Carmella (Mainella) Cartledge. He was also predeceased by his sister, Nancy Lepre Hamner, his former wife, Adele (Bredderman) Cartledge, and his dear friend Rob Campbell.

Ken was a 1962 graduate of Greenville Central School, where he was active on multiple sports teams and served as editor-in-chief of the yearbook. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Union College and his master's degree from SUNY Albany.

In the 1970s, Ken played the accordion in a local wedding and event band, Capital Sounds, alongside his brother-in-law, Larry. He later built a long and successful career in banking, always maintaining a keen awareness of the local business community and its people.

In 2002, Ken married the love of his life, Karen Miele. Together, they shared many happy years filled with laughter, travel, and time spent between Saratoga Springs and Kennebunk, Maine.

In retirement, Ken took great pride in developing and operating Saratoga Mini Golf, a place that reflected his love of people, community, and a little friendly competition.

Ken was known for his sharp wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures—going out to eat, sitting by the ocean, and spending time with his cat, Ringo. Ken never forgot his special feline friend, Bella. He especially enjoyed spending time and playing games with his grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karen Miele; his children, Tracy (Michael) DeMarco and Christine (John) Freer; his beloved grandchildren, Caden DeMarco and Tracy Jean Freer; his brother-in-law, Dan Hamner; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie (Ken) Miller; his nephew, Clinton (Ashley) Miller; and his dear friends, Tom and Carol Crowley, Enza Shellard, and Tina Campbell.

A visitation for Ken will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
