Kathy J. Chapman Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kathy (Katie) J Chapman, who left us unexpectedly on October 17, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on April 18th, 1961, in Troy, New York. Katie was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend whose spirit will be dearly missed.

Katie spent her life pursuing simple pleasures, loved watching football and spending time with family, especially her grandbabies. Katie, who is one of six children, was raised in Green Island, New York. She spent her youth with her siblings growing up in their small town, getting into trouble as young kids do, was involved in her community, and was always down for a good time. She was lucky to spend every summer at camp on Saratoga Lake growing up, and loved attending local concerts with artists including the Beach Boys and James Taylor. After graduating from Heatly High School in 1979, Katie was the first in her family to attend college at Husson College in Bangor, ME. She obtained an associates degree after two years and then was engaged to her former husband, Bill. Following college she started a family and settled in Eddington, ME raising three children, Billy, Alex, and Jen. Katie would live in Maine for 40 years and only just recently moved back to New York to be closer to family.

Katie was known to be a hard worker and loved to laugh, she proved that experience and knowledge can lead to success. Starting her career typing medical dictation, Katie eventually rose, over the course of 20 years, to a medical office manager at Eastern Maine Medical Center where she was responsible for up to six separate medical offices. Katie was a dedicated mother who organized amazing birthday parties, attended every sporting event, and even became a Boys Scout and Girls Scout leader. She truly enjoyed her beloved New England Patriots over the years, and especially enjoyed watching Tom Brady and "Gronk".

Katie's (Grandma) greatest loves were her five grandchildren. She treasured her visits with them, always bringing her famous whoopie pies, attending events, playing board games, watching movies, and singing silly songs. Katie leaves behind great memories for her grandchildren, as she attended family vacations including two trips to Disney World. She was a dedicated grandma who loved seeing her grandchildren happy. Katie's time living in Maine with her youngest son, Alex, became a true blessing for them both. She was lucky enough to spend the last year living closer to her cherished daughter, Jen Delia. Katie enjoyed spending her summers at Sacandaga Lake the last few years, trying out new restaurants as a proclaimed "foodie" and spending time with family. Additionally, Katie also loved to snuggle her "grandfurbabies" Willow, Cedar, Juniper and Sadie.

Katie is survived by her children along with their spouses, Billy Chapman (Sara) of Merrimack,

NH, Alexander Chapman of Eddington, ME, Jennifer Chapman and fiance Michael Vrooman of

Schenectady, NY. Katie is also survived by her five grandchildren, Owen Chapman, Liam Chapman, Abigail Chapman, Bradley McClintick and Nathan McClintick all of Merrimack, NH.

Katie leaves behind five siblings and their spouses, William O'Connor (Robin) of East

Greenbush, NY, Walter O'Connor of Flagler Beach, FL, Sharon Flaherty of Troy, NY, twin brother Michael O'Connor (Chris) of Green Island, NY, Tim O'Connor of Ballston Spa, NY, and many nieces and nephews. Katie was predeceased by her father William O'Connor and her mother Shirley O'Connor.

A memorial service to honor Katie's life will be held on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 from 12pm-2pm at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY. Kathy J. Chapman will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and the love she shared with those around her. May she rest in peace.
