Frances M. Montgomery, 97, of Halfmoon, New York, passed away at Saratoga Hospital on Monday, December 15, 2025 following a brief illness.
Frances was born in 1928 in Schenectady, New York, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lulu (Kaiser) Marcel. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Harold Montgomery; her son-in-law: Arnold Bruno; her foster parents: Julius and Catherine Taber; and many foster siblings.
After graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Harold F. Montgomery on August 14, 1948, and they remained together until his death in 2012. Frances loved taking care of her husband and children, and was proud of being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. In her spare time she enjoyed travelling, camping, and doing crafts, and had served as a former Girl Scout leader. She also enjoyed her membership in the Glenville Hills Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary, and was especially proud of her status as a charter member of the Halfmoon Senior Center.
Frances is survived by her two children: Cathe Bruno (Lou LiVecchi), and Francyne Montgomery-Cunningham; her 4 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Debra) Bruno, Jason (Chrissy) Cunningham, Melissa (James) Fitzgerald, and Shawn (Vinny) Cunningham; seven great-grandchildren: Logan, Emily, Connor, Anthony, Mykayla, Jayda, and Shayla; and two great-great-grandchildren: Miyra, and Imani.
A visitation for Frances will be held from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065. She will be laid to rest next to her husband privately in the spring.
