David P. Brantigan, Sr., 73, of Halfmoon, New York, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
David was born in 1952 in Albany, NY, a son of the late Louis "Woody" and Elda (Carey) Brantigan. After finishing his time in high school, he went to work as a truck driver, a career spanning over 3 decades, retiring from Grocery Haulers based in Albany. On May 2 of 1970 he married the love of his life, Bonnie Whitman, and together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage
When David wasn't at work, he spent his time enjoying his love of the great outdoors. Fishing and hunting were his greatest passions, but he also enjoyed camping, winter sports, and even simple things like enjoying the wildlife, building bluebird boxes, and watching the cardinals and humming birds. He absolutely loved NASCAR, and would watch with his wife, even going to the race track together. His greatest love, more than anything else, was spending time with his grandchildren.
David leaves behind his wife: Bonnie Brantigan; their two children: David Brantigan Jr. and his wife Sherry Brantigan and Jaime Spaulding and partner Mark Jackson; 6 grandchildren: Corey, Alicia, Samantha, Kyle, Trevor, and Rylee; his siblings: Dawn, Debbie, Denise, Jackie, Warren "Hoppy", Thomas "T-Bone", and Richard, and several nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation will be held for David from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
