Antonio "Tony" Tozzi Obituary

Antonio "Tony" Tozzi passed away, with family by his side, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital at 89 years of age. His death resulted from complications of renal failure, which he battled for most of the past two years.

Born in Troy to Giulio and Domenica (DiTomasso) Tozzi, immigrants from San Valentino, Abbruzo, Italy, Antonio was raised in Watervliet and Latham. After leaving high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to, in addition to his patriotism, provide financial support to his parents. He was stationed in West Germany, where he appeared briefly in the 1954 film 08/15.

After honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Antonio returned to the Albany area and married MaryAnn (Fronk) Tozzi in 1957. They lived in Troy and Cohoes until he constructed the family home in Halfmoon, where they moved in 1968 and raised their six children. He was happiest when family and friends gathered at the pool, or at the camp at Upper Saranac Lake.

Antonio spent the majority of his career as a self-employed building contractor.

Antonio traveled frequently with his wife, especially to Florida, where their trips with grandchildren to Disney World sparked particular delight. They eventually purchased homes in the Bradenton area and resided there during the winter months.

It was also in Florida that he met Linda Liscum, his partner for most of the past decade, after the passing of MaryAnn in 2014. They lived full-time for several years in Ellenton until relocating to the Saratoga area in 2024 to be closer to family.

Antonio is survived by Linda, two siblings (Joseph Tozzi and Theresa Soldani), six children Tony Tozzi (Carole), Sharon Devane (Daniel), Michael Tozzi, Robert Tozzi, Susan Ferrara (John) and Andrew Tozzi, eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, wife and siblings Nicola, Daniel, Yolanda (Caruso), Rita (Caruso), Jean (Patalino), Rocco, Anne Marie (Farina).

A selfless, humble and loving patriarch to his large family, a diligent and self-made business operator and a consistent beacon of kindness, he is deeply missed.

Tony's family would like to extend a special thank you to the care team and staff at Saratoga Hospital for their dedication and compassion.

A period of visitation for Antonio will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Catricala Funeral Home, with a Mass taking place at 11:30 at St. Mary's of Crescent. Burial will take place at 1:30 pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
