Donald W. Hamilton, 89, of the town of Halfmoon, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the Delmar Center in the Town of Bethlehem, NY.

Donald was born in 1936 in Hawthorne, New Jersey, the son of the late Nicholas Hamilton and Harriet Wagoner. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his sisters: Claire and Jean

He attended high school in Pompton Lakes, NJ. After high school, he was drafted into the US Army in 1961, and following his honorable discharge, he went to work as a foreman in the asphalt division of Yonkers Contracting in Suffern, NY. On February 10 of 1962, he married Anita Gilbert, and they remained together until his passing.

When Donald wasn't at work, he enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, boating, and travelling. Not only was he an avid outdoorsman, but he enjoyed sharing his passions with friends and family, taking a special pride in encouraging the enjoyment of those hobbies with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed sharing his love of cooking and golf, and tried to share his obsession with model railroading. He also enjoyed building things, but his biggest project that he took the most pride in was his family.

Doanld leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Anita Hamilton; his three children: Donald (Natasha Smelova) Hamilton, Craig (Joyce) Hamilton, and Shirley (Paul) Hartman; six grandchildren: Alice, Robert, Andrew, Matthew, Katie, and Tyler; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A period of visitation will be held for Donald from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065, followed by a time of sharing at 12 Noon. A service with Military Honors will be held at 1:30 the same day at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
