Peggy Anne Rudis Obituary
Peggy Anne Rudis, 80, of Clifton Park, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on
Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Peggy was born in Amsterdam, NY, a daughter of the late Chester A. and Evelyn E.
(Krutz) Piecuch. She was also predeceased by her husband Alexander P. Rudis in
2021.
Peggy grew up in the Amsterdam area before raising her family in the Mid-Hudson
Valley. In later years she returned to the Capital District, where she remained close to
her roots and her family.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother known for her baking — her cakes, pies,
Easter hot cross buns, and Polish babka were a fixture of family holidays and
gatherings. She kept Polish food traditions alive, passing them on to her son, daughter-
in-law, and granddaughter Teresa, who carries on her cake-making today.
Peggy was also an avid birder and nature lover, traveling with her Dutchess County
birding group to Alaska, Panama, and Machu Picchu.
She was a woman of quiet devotion who cared most for her family and asked for little
for herself.
Peggy is survived by her son Michael A. (Annmarie) Rudis; her grandchildren Teresa,
Nicholas, and Christian Rudis; and her six siblings: Chester (Carole) Piecuch, William
(Tatsanee) Piecuch, Sandra (Daniel) Grzybowski, Evelyn (Tom) Laraway, Irene
Schumacher, and Peter Piecuch; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, with a
memorial service following at 4:00 pm at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton
Park, NY 12065.
