Joseph Alexander, 91 1/2, of Ballston Lake, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 25,

2026 at Albany Medical Center.

Joseph was born in Albany, NY in 1934, the son of the late LeRoy and Marie (Volk)

Alexander. He was also predeceased by his wife of 59 years: Joan Alexander, as well as his

sister: Dorothy Brohm.

After graduating from high school, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving

honorably in the Korean War from 1953 until 1957 when he was discharged back to civilian

life. He enrolled in Oklahoma State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in

Industrial Engineering. During his time at university, he was president of the Oklahoma Nu

Chapter Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He also was an Inter-Collegiate Bowling Champion, and

had the honor of representing Oklahoma State at the American Bowling Congress in St.

Louis, Missouri. Following college, he returned home and in 1963 married Joan Lasch, with

whom he shared his life until her death in February of 2022.

Joseph used his degree working for NY Telephone, later Bell Telephone, and even later still

Verizon in Glens Falls, NY, until his retirement in 1992. He engineered the first cable

television systems for the cities of Newburg and Poughkeepsie in the late 1960's.

When Joseph wasn't at work, he enjoyed being social. He was a member of the NY

Telephone golf league for over 50 years, and was a proud member of the Clifton Park Elks,

Lodge #2466, as well as a member of the Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake American Legion Post

#1817, where he served at various times as Treasurer and Vice Commander.

Joseph is survived by his children: Karen Walkowicz, Michael (Donna) Alexander, and James

Alexander; his grandchildren: Amanda (Jess) Radich, Megan Walkowicz, Matthew

Alexander, Christine Alexander, Jewels Alexander, and Isabella Alexander.

A private service with military honors will take place at GBHS Saratoga National Cemetery,

where Joseph will be laid to rest with his wife, Joan.
