Aase M Mossaidis Obituary
Aase Madsen Mossaidis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 17, 2026, after a life rich with love, adventure, and the warm aromas of a well-stocked kitchen.
Born on October 11, 1946, in Faaborg, Denmark, Aase entered the world alongside her twin sister, Birthe — a fitting beginning for a woman who always kept her family close. She was one of seven siblings: Knud Erik, Anne Lise, Karl Erik, Hans Egon, Inge Ketty, and Birthe. That large and lively family shaped the generous, warm-hearted person she would become.
As a young woman, she followed her heart to Greece, where she met and fell in love with Nicholas Mossaidis, the man who would become her devoted partner for decades to come.
Together, Aase and Nicholas built a life that crossed continents — from Greece to America and back again — before settling into a cherished retirement in upstate New York. Through every chapter, their bond remained the steady center of it all.
Aase was a gifted cook and an exceptional baker, and her kitchen was always a gathering place. She delighted in sharing her heritage through food, famously teaching family members in Greece to make her beloved Danish roasted baby potatoes — a small but unforgettable gift of culture and love.
She found joy in the beauty of the seasons — the first spring blooms, long sunny days, and the brilliant colors of fall foliage. But her deepest joy was her family. Aase was fiercely loving to her children and grandchildren, a steady and devoted presence in their lives who gave her whole heart without reservation.
She raised her children, Anna and Demetrius, with a clear and enduring set of values: treat every person with equality and respect, take care of yourself, and never skip a doctor's appointment. Lessons delivered with love — and meant to last a lifetime.
In passing, Aase has joined in the eternal her beloved siblings Anne Lise, Inge Ketty, Knud Erik, Hans Egon, and Karl Erik, who preceded her.
She is survived by her husband, Nicholas; her children, Anna and Demetrius; her beloved granddaughters, Sofia and Penelope; her twin sister, Birthe; and all who were fortunate enough to share a meal, a memory, or a moment with her.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved. A period of visitation will be held for Aase from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on June 20, 2026 at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
