KaWai Yung Obituary
KaWai Yung, 80, of Clifton Park, New York, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at
his home with his family by his side.
KaWai was born in Guangdong, China, the son of the late Chun Kit Yung and Fong Pak
Chan. Following his move to the United States, KaWai earned his Masters of Business
Administration from the University of Cincinnati. He went on to work as an Engineer for
General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York. In 1975 he married Mabel Leong
and they settled down to start their family.
In his free time KaWai had a passion for ballroom dancing and Karaoke. He loved to
travel and see the world, whether by car, cruise ship, or airplane. He also enjoyed
building model airplanes. He could often be found outdoors in nice weather, gardening
and landscaping. Keeping his home beautiful was something KaWai took immense
pride in. In more quiet times he enjoyed watching movies, and he loved Chinese food.
KaWai was a devoted husband to Mabel, and his children were his greatest joy.
KaWai leaves behind his wife of over 50 years: Mabel Yung; their children: Douglas
Yung, Karen Yung (husband: Donalrey Nieva), and Pamela Yung.
A period of visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, July 13, 2026
at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065, with a memorial
service taking place at 11:00 am. A graveside committal will be held at Most Holy
Redeemer Cemetery, located at 2501 Troy-Schenectady Road, Niskayuna, NY at 12:00
Noon.
A celebratory lunch will follow the committal service at a local restaurant for family and
friends.
