Lawrence G. Williams Obituary

Lawrence G. "Larry" Williams, 89, of Clifton Park, New York, passed away peacefully at the Wesley Nursing and Rehab center in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Born at the family home in 1937 in Boyntonville, New York, Larry was a son of the late George and Lucy (LeBarron) Williams. In addition to his parents, Larry was also predeceased by his wife of 64 years: Rosemary (Viscusi) Williams; a daughter-in-law: Christine Williams; a grandson: Vincent; and all of his siblings: Eleanor, Forrest, Doris, and Betty.

After graduating from Troy High School with the Class of 1955, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he took courses in Electrical Engineering and Firefighting. He served as a ship's electrician in Key West, Florida, and following his honorable discharge in 1959 he returned home to the Capital Region of New York to continue working as an electrician for General Electric in Waterford until his retirement in 1998.

Larry was an avid volunteer at the USS Slater, and spent much of his free time at the ship. Since 1996 he was a staple crewman of the famous Destroyer Escort. In his spare time he enjoyed spending countless hours with his family at the camp "up North" in Indian Lake. The time he spent was precious to him, because beyond everything else, his family was his greatest love.
