Carolyn C. Bailey, 82, of Clifton Park, New York, passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2026, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire after spending the day enjoying her home in York Beach, Maine.

Carolyn was born in Schenectady, New York in 1944, a daughter of the late Dr. Joseph M. and Claire J. (MacLaurie) Capritta. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her Daughter-in-Law: Robin Myers; and her sister: Diane (Capritta) Juchimek.

Following her high school graduation, Carolyn attended Windham College in Putney Vermont, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. She went to work as a bacteriologist for the New York State Department of Health, a career she excelled at for 30 years until her retirement.

On December 20, 1984, she married Lawrence "Larry" Bailey, and the two of them met all of life's challenges and adventures as a team, always finding their way back home together.

When Carolyn wasn't at work, she enjoyed gardening, both at her home in Clifton Park, and at her second home in York Beach. York Beach was a special place for her to get away, unwind, and relax. Carolyn was always a part of her community and especially loved going out to dinner with friends. If Carolyn was there, you knew the restaurant was good. She was locally famous for her cheesecakes, her level-headed approach, and her sense of humor and good nature.

Carolyn leaves behind her husband of over 40 years: Lawrence Bailey; her two sons: Joseph Michael Young and Jeremy Christopher (Monique De Voe) Young; her sister Christine (Capritta) Smith, her niece Cameo (Gardenier) Olson (Eric Olson),her grandchildren: Elizabeth Danielle (Anthony Catricala) Young, Thomas Paul Walker III, and Alexa (James) Devoe; two great-grandchildren: Lucinda and Jesse; a brother-in-law: Vince Juchimek; and all of her beloved friends and neighbors in York Beach and Clifton Park.

A visitation for Carolyn will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
