Eleanor M. Dalpe-Somers, 73, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 23, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the comfort of the place she loved.

Eleanor was born in Niskayuna, NY, the daughter of Emile Dalpe and Sarah LeRoux. She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, John "Moose" Somers; her brother, David Dalpe; and her son Richard Dalpe.

Known affectionately to those who loved her as "Ellie," she was a woman whose love was often expressed through the little things she did for others. Following high school, she worked for the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, where she worked as a secretarial assistant for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2010.

Outside of work, Ellie found happiness in the simple things that made life special. She loved to crochet, often making beautiful and thoughtful creations for her family and friends. She loved to cook, and especially to bake. Many will remember her most fondly for her famous cupcakes, made with the same care and love that she brought to everything she did.

Ellie also loved spending quiet time at home watching old Western shows, a favorite pastime that could keep her happily settled in for hours. Music was another special part of her life. She loved listening to the songs of the 1960s and 1970s, with Patsy Cline, Kenny Rogers, Frankie Valli, Elvis Presley, and Journey among her favorites. These were the songs that filled her home and became part of the soundtrack of her life.

Ellie had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed being outdoors whenever she could. Most of all, though, she cherished her family. Her two granddaughters, Sage and Zoe, were among the greatest joys and proudest accomplishments of her life. She loved watching them grow, spending time with them, and being their Mimi. The love she had for them was unmistakable, and the memories they made together will remain with them always.

Ellie was one of the most loving and caring people you could ever meet. She was strong-willed, stubborn in the best sense, and fiercely independent. She knew her own mind and lived life on her own terms. But beneath that strength was an enormous heart. When someone she loved needed her, Ellie showed up—always. She gave her time, her help, her food, her handmade creations, and most importantly, her love.

Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth to the people around her. She will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved her, but the things she gave to others—the memories, the traditions, the recipes, the handmade treasures, and the love—will continue to live on through them.

Eleanor is survived by her longtime boyfriend of 15 years, Kenneth Mills; her daughter, Kara Grennon; her two beloved granddaughters, Sage and Zoe; her siblings, Deborah Perry, Dennis (Betsy) Dalpe, and Daniel (Penny) Dalpe; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A period of visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.

On Monday, August 31, 2026, prayers will be offered at Catricala Funeral Home promptly at 10:30 a.m. with the procession arriving at St. Mary's Church, Church Hill Road, Crescent, NY, 12188 for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 40 Middletown Road, Waterford, NY.
