Ann J. Flynn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26th 2026, with family by her side. She was 101 years old. Ann lived a vibrant life full of dancing, cheering for the Yankees, drinking her Manhattans, and, most importantly, spending time with family.

She was an avid reader, frequently checking out books from her local library and was an early adopter of the kindle for e-books once she needed larger print. She was active in her church community and the current reigning champ of the weekly walker races.

Her dance moves and laughter were legendary fixtures at every family wedding or event and every Shaker middle and high school theatre production from 2007-2012. To know her was to love her, to laugh with her, and to dance with her.

She will be welcomed into heaven by her husband, Joseph, who her family is sure greeted her ready to dance, her many beloved siblings (Mary, Elizabeth, Irene, Phillip, and Harry), two daughters (Patricia and Mary), and grandson Brian.

Ann will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters Joann (Joe) and Maureen, grandchildren Maggie (Eve) and Gregory (Akvile), bonus grandchildren (Catherine, Victoria (Jerome), and James), and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Her family would like to thank the caring and supportive staff at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center who took good care of her on her beautiful journey to the end of her life. It warmed our hearts to see residents and staff alike waving as they walked past her room or saw her out and about. You made her smile.

Her instructions upon her death were "not to do any of that crying shit and have the best damn party you've ever seen." So, to honor her memory, please join us in celebrating her life on Wednesday, September 2nd at St. Mary's Crescent (86 Church Hill Road, Waterford, NY 12188) for a wake (10:30), funeral service (11:30), and luncheon to follow.

Please join us on Thursday, September 3rd as we journey downstate so she can be laid to rest with her husband, Joe, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery (10 W Steven's Ave Hawthorne NY 10532 OR 5 Bradhurst Ave Hawthorne NY 10532). We will meet at the cemetery at 11am.

If you are unable to join us, we ask that you raise a drink (Manhattan or hot black coffee) and dance it out in her honor.
