Mark and I grew up together, riding our bikes, then working on our field cars together, then other things. I didn't go to the funeral because I knew I'd break down.
Mark and I were in close contact before he died.
He always told me: "We're brothers, Kurt."

To Mark's family and friends --
I am very surprised and sorry to read about Mark's passing -- I knew Mark a little bit ages ago when we both lived in Rexford and graduated from Shenendehowa in the class of 1971. Although I never saw Mark again after those school days, I remember him as a wonderful person, a very friendly and helpful school mate. And very handsome, too! The "All American" type of guy.
Learning of Mark's passing came about in a most unusual way, which I will share with you. I recently bought a history book from abebooks and when I received it, I was surprised to note it was mailed from Cooperstown, not all that far away. The book was neatly boxed and wrapped in newspapers. Who can resist looking at a newspaper coming in such a way, so I opened it and noticed it was the TIMES UNION newspaper dated December 27th, 2019. The book happened to be wrapped in the obituary section and there I read the sad news of Mark's passing.
Just wanted to add my kind thoughts and remembrances of Mark for his family, and I hope that you all keep your antennas up and will get a message from him. Happy Trails, Mark -- from Nadine (Welch) Battaglia

Mark and Family,
I want to express my condolences to you and your family for the loss of your father. This is certainly a sad and difficult time. Trust that with the passage of time, your memories of all the good times, the laughter and all that your Dad taught you will be good memories to carry you and your family forward.
Sincerely, Fred DeNovio
