I just learned of Dave’s passing. My heart is broken. He was a long time friend that left so many nice memories. He and Lisa have always been a special couple to my wife Brigid and I. What a great family they raised together. His legacy will live on through them. Although I didn’t see Dave as much the past couple years he was still in my mind often coming up in conversations. I wish Lisa and their family the best during this difficult time.

I have been so terribly saddened over the past couple days by David's passing and for the pain of Lisa and his beautiful family for their loss. But as I write this, it has just dawned on me that had I not met David at Daemen College 43 years ago, and had him as such a close friend for all those years, watching our families grow together -- that would have been the real loss! So for the thousands of memories and laughs we've shared, (many of which Lisa seems to have caught on film) - like when Ziggy gobbled up the brick of jalapeno cheese off the picnic table at Lake George and David was afraid of the "outcome" a few hours later, thank you my dear friend for all those memories that will NEVER be forgotten, -- until we meet again. - John Connor

Lisa and Mikula Family,
Ray and I were saddened and shocked to read of your loss. Our memories of Dave, when we were neighbors years ago, are of a lovely, kind, friendly man who always had a good word and and who was always there for his family. May his memory be a blessing for you and for all your family.

I grew up with David as my cousin when I was growing up in Cassadaga, NY. His father, my Uncle Hank, was my favorite uncle and did lots of things with my father, William Mikula. We lived on Cassadaga Lake and my Uncle Hank and Aunt Edna would come over on a regular basis, to go swimming, fishing, or just to visit. The children in both families were very close in age, so we always had our cousins to "pal" around with. Jerome and I were the oldest and then there was David and my brother Greg. As I remember, instead of playing with Greg, David would hang around with me and Jerome. He was quite persistent in doing things with us and always wanted to fit it. Jerome would shoe him away from time to time, but David always came back to hang out with his older brother and older cousin. I remember him as quiet, but persistent and a good persuader, traits that would later serve him well as a financial advisor. I do remember one incident as I child when, riding his bike, David crashed his bike and broke both of his arms. Seeing him with a cast on each arm, always alarmed and amazed me how he could feed himself, let alone, get back on that bike and ride around like nothing happened. I told myself, "this cousin has no fear". After the high school years I lost track of David, but he went on to be a successful adult, becoming a financial advisor, husband, father, and now, grandfather. I will miss David. I thank him for giving us special keepsakes that will live on forever in our lives. May the Peace and the Grace of God be with you cousin - Doug Mikula
