Alane "Lanie" S. (Atwell) Kosower, age 71 of Ballston Spa passed away peacefully surrounded by family at The Community Hospice Inn in St Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY on Monday, November 20, 2023 after 9 months of battling multiple health complications. She was born in Elmira, NY. In her final hours she shared she was grateful for her awesome life and that we'd see her again dancing in heaven, reunited with her predeceased father Allan P. Atwell and mother Neva C. Atwell, her beloved husband Karl C. Kosower, sister-in-law Linda Fay Snare Atwell, and other friends & family who have gone before her.

Lanie was raised in Breesport, NY and moved to Clifton Park in 1969. She graduated from Shenendehowa High School in 1971 where she was actively involved in theater and the arts; her claim to fame included her lead role as Fiona MacLauren in the Broadway musical Brigadoon. She attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, where she was the only Freshman to make the Traveling Choir; enjoying their performance trip to California. No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart - and Lanie's heart beamed! She spent the last several decades of her career as a Home Health Caregiver, illuminating the elderly season of many people's lives.

Lanie loved all sorts of plants and flowers, cultivating life with a tremendous green thumb. She was a talented artist and photographer, winning countless awards for her long exposure night photography and other artistic creations. You may have seen her at the Saratoga County Fair, as she was a faithful volunteer of The Lewis Building for decades.

She is survived by her adored cat Push, her siblings Jerrold (Margaret) Atwell, Barbara Atwell, Jeffrey Atwell, and Jonathan (Jen) Atwell; nieces and nephews Rebecca Atwell (Mike Walpole), Sarah (John) Richburg, twins Brady and Bradley Atwell, Nancy Gajewski, Connie Kendig, Julianna, Vanessa, and Evan.

She especially cherished her great-nephews and great-niece John Joseph III, Hunter, Zayden, & Skylar.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00PM at the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life bonfire will follow at Kamelot in Ballston Spa.

Flowers will be accepted at Catricala Funeral Home or the church for her memorial service. Other expressions of honor for her life may be made in whichever ways you wish.
