Norman J. Russell, Jr., 79, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Ellis Hospital following a long illness.
Norm was born in 1945 in Hartford Connecticut, a son of the late Norman J. and Irene (Durant) Russell. He is also predeceased by a cousin and close friend, Michael O'Neil.
After graduating from high school, Norman earned his Bachelor's Degree from Providence College. In 1968 he enlisted in the US Army where he served with distinction until his honorable discharge in 1970. Norm was proud to be self-employed, and referred to himself as a "Professional Landlord".
Norm was a skilled handyman, and was Mr. Fix-It to his family and friends. When he wasn't at work, he enjoyed relaxing on a boat, doing some fishing or reading, and had a passion for his cars. He loved his dogs, Telos and Lola, and more than anything else, loved spending time with his family.
Norm is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years: Sandra (Edmondson) Russell; his two daughters: Sarah (Ahmet) Onat, and Myra Russell; and his 3 grandchildren: Ela Onat, Eren Onat, and Elis Onat.
A period of visitation for Norm will be held on Friday, February 21 from 9:00am until 10:00am at St. Edward the Confessor, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 am. Immediately following the Funeral Mass, burial with Military Honors will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
Norm's family has requested NO flowers; however, if you wish to make a donation in his memory, please consider giving to the Sepsis Alliance online at sepsis.org, or to the Homeless and Disabled Veteran's Fund at Samuel Stratton V.A.
