Please share a memory of Gloria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gloria Anne (Farrell) Benson, 91, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, in Ballston Spa, New York. Born in 1933, in Boston, Massachusetts, Gloria dedicated her life to caring for others. She graduated from high school in Williamstown, Massachusetts, in 1951 before pursuing her passion for nursing at the Henry W. Bishop III Memorial School of Nursing. In 1954, she became a Registered Nurse and went on to provide compassionate care to patients in Buffalo and Albany before dedicating 23 years of service to Teresian House. Gloria was a devoted wife to her late husband, Richard Benson, and a loving mother to her daughters Jennifer (Benson) Bartley (Stephen) and Tracy (Benson) Freas (Bill). She cherished her role as a grandmother to Nicholas, Spencer, Andrew, Collin, Casey, Austin, Jessi, Megan, and Jacob and took great joy in being a great-grandmother to eight beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Deborah Farrell. A woman of deep faith, Gloria centered her life around Christ and was an active member of Shenendehowa United Methodist Church. She participated wholeheartedly in the women's circle, church fairs, numerous Bible study groups, and various volunteer events. Her unwavering devotion to family and friends was evident in the way she offered guidance, lost sleep over their concerns, and kept them always in her prayers. Gloria now reunites with those who passed before her: her parents Mildred and Alfred Farrell; her in-laws Carl and Helen (Jim Enos) Benson; her sisters Rose Hawes (Roger) and Lyn Dennett (Fran); her brother-in-law Bruce Benson (Shirley); her niece Lisa Dennett; and three precious great-grandchildren—Nyla Rose, Riley, and Baby Bartley. Gloria's legacy of love and selflessness will live on through the many lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A memorial service is planned for the summer at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In leu of flowers, donations may be made the Gateway House of Peace (https://www.gatewayhouseofpeace.org/)
