Robert L. Flannery, May 8, 1943 – April 4, 2025. Son of the late Martin
and Bertha Kurlanski Flannery of Carbondale, PA, Bob was born in
Cohoes, NY, and graduated from Cohoes High School in 1961.
Bob's career at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles
spanned an incredible 61 years and included responsibility for a wide
array of functions, including mail and supply, central services,
operations, and a four-year adventure as the Director of the DMV's
Brooklyn office.
An avid golfer, he was a charter and long-standing member of the
Mis*ing Links Golf League.
He was a long-time fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team, rarely
missing a game and never giving up the hope for a winning season.
He was an early supporter of ShelterBox USA, donating disaster
recovery supplies to Thailand during the tsunami, and to Haiti and
Japan after earthquakes. He was a great advocate and supporter of
Rotary's End Polio Now initiative. Locally, he collected food and
supplies for local and regional food banks.
He is survived by his wife, Pepi, a caring and loving family, many
cherished friends, and his dog, Dolly.
