Obituary of MaryJane Samuels

MaryJane Samuels, age 82 of Saratoga Springs passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 20, 1933 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late William and Charlotte Sumner. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth “Corky” Samuels and her sister Joyce (George) Adams. MaryJane spent her career as the cafeteria supervisor at Chango Elementary School for many years. She also worked at Bowman’s Orchards for several seasons, making cider doughnuts; and was known for her famous apple pie. She was a past president of the Jonesville Fire Ladies Auxilary. MaryJane loved playing cards and bingo, especially her “bingo” scratch-off lottery tickets, and enjoyed reading romance novels, camping with her family, and eating waffles at Gibby’s. She will be remembered for having a positive outlook on life at all times and for being kind, considerate, selfless, and for her great sense of humor. She always surrounded herself with her loving friends and family. She is survived by her daughters Susan Rhodes and Sheryl (Keith) Reed, sons Kenneth (Tamara) Samuels Jr., and Paul Samuels, and her sisters Charlotte (Myron) Chamberlain and Joanne (Bob) Reinhart. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kent, Amanda, Derek, Taylor, and Ryan, great-granddaughter Madison, many nieces and nephews, and her dog Prince. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a funeral service on Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
