Obituary of E. James Cole

E. James Cole, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Born in Palmer, MA, he was the son of the late E. James Cole Sr. and Mildred Cole. Jim graduated from Boston University and completed his graduate work at SUNY Potsdam, and UMASS, Amherst. Jim taught music in the Amherst/Pelham regional schools and the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School system. He was a charter member of the Burnt Hills Oratorio Society, and the Saratoga/Potsdam Chorus. He was a church soloist, and directed the choirs at Zion Lutheran Church, and Second Reform Church, both in Schenectady. He was also a member of the Schenectady Light Opera Company and the Schenectady Civic Players – having performed on stage as well as directing several productions for these companies during the 60’s and 70’s. Jim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary “Gay” Cole, step-sons Terry (Marie) Hamlin, and Thomas (Pamela) Hamlin, and grandchildren Kelly, Rachel, Jack, and Katie. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 11:30 a.m. at the Jonesville Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Vista at the Van Patten Golf Club.
