Obituary of Lou D. Uzdarwin

Please share a memory of Lou to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lou D. Uzdarwin, age 82 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home after a short illness. She was born in Tennessee on December 18, 1934. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Robert J. Uzdarwin, in 2006. At a very early age, Lou lost both of her parents in an automobile accident. At that time, her grandmother raised her until her own untimely death while Lou was a student in high school. After graduating from high school, Lou moved to California and enrolled in UCLA. Her graduation and degree from UCLA was quite an achievement for someone who lost her entire family before the age of 16. Lou married after graduation and settled in Clifton Park. She became active in volunteering, and took a tremendous pride in being a member of the St. Mary’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Crescent until her health prevented her from attending. Lou was an avid reader and found great pleasure in completing hundreds of books during her lifetime. She enjoyed reading all genres and loved discussing the topics with her family. Lou’s love of music overflowed their home with sounds from every generation. She is survived by her devoted son Donald J. Uzdarwin. Her son Donald wishes to extend his heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Schuyler Ridge for the devotion and care they gave his mother during her stay. In keeping with Lou’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private interment will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305 or online at citymission.com.
