Shirley A. Abbott, age 80 of Halfmoon, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Connors. She was predeceased by her brothers James and Robert Connors. Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Catholic Central High School. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Edward L. Abbott, daughter, Cassandra (Walt) Brady, sons, Edward M. Abbott, Thomas L. (Mary) Abbott, Patrick J. (Diane) Abbott, and Martin D. (Judith) Abbott, sister Mary (Lester) Slade, grandchildren, Meghan (Tom) Loring, Colin, Darren, Ellen, Luke, Nora, and Colden, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a funeral mass on Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Crescent. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home and the Hospice of Saratoga County for all of the excellent care that they provided Shirley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association Northeastern New York Chapter, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
