Francis A. “Buck” Machina Sr., age 87 of Clifton Park passed away on Saturday October 17, 2015. He was born on July 19, 1928 in Lackawanna, NY.
Francis moved to Clifton Park in 1972. He was a hard-working man that loved his country, serving 35 years as an engineer officer in the NY Army National Guard; retiring at the rank of brigadier general. He was a member of American Legion Post 1450, Life Member of the Militia Association of New York and Life Member of the National Guard Association of the United States. He lived life to the fullest, owning his own plane, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and boat. He was also a gifted craftsman, personally adding beautiful additions to his homes. Mostly, he loved his family and was very proud of them. They will miss him greatly.
He was the beloved husband of Catherine (nee Warren) Machina for over 60 years; loving father of Nancy Machina, Cheryl (David Mackey) Machina, Francis (Ann Marie) Machina and Gary (Carolyn) Machina; brother of Marian E. Miller, and Ruth McCann; cherished grandfather of David, Adam and Catherine Mackey, Maria, Angela, Jenna and Frankie Machina, Brian and Sarah Machina. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings Robert Machina, Lois Duke, and Virginia Herrmann.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a funeral Mass on Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Edward’s Church. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
