Obituary of Helen M. Gauvreau
Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen Margaret (Murnane) Gauvreau, age 83, of Clifton Park passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 29, 2016. Born on April 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen Murnane Fahey. She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert M. Gauvreau.
Helen was raised in Watervliet and was a 1950 graduate of Watervliet High School. She continued her education at Austin Beauty School. Helen worked as a Beautician for many years prior to marrying and raising a family.
Helen dedicated her life to her family. Being a wife, a mother and a grandmother meant the most to her. She was active in her children’s activities such, as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Helen and her late husband spent several years breeding and training beagles. Our family is blessed with wonderful home movies of the children playing with dozens of newborn beagle pups. Some of her happiest times were those spent with her family and friends at the family cottage on Lake George. She was well known from her many years of service on the Clifton Park election board. She was an avid reader, a seamstress, enjoyed bowling and her weekly ceramic classes. In later years she and Bob traveled the world; and although she enjoyed these times she always looked forward to returning home to her family.
She is survived by her sons Robert F. (Sheila) Gauvreau, and Daniel J. (Suzanne) Morrison Gauvreau, daughters Judith Bethon, and Cheryl (Rick) Caza, and brothers, Stephen (Carol) Fahey and James (Cindy) Fahey. She is also survived by grandchildren Stacy, Ryan, Alexandria, Cory, Nolan, Thomas II, Aubrey, London, and Annika, great-grandson Owen, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Eddy Memorial House #5 for all of the wonderful care and love they provided Helen.
