Obituary of Teresa Tyrka

Teresa Tyrka, age 90 of Latham passed away on Thursday March 24, 2016. Born on February 10, 1926 in Union City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Michelangelo and Giroloma Fondacaro. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Bernard Tyrka, and her siblings Vincent, Rose, and Fred. Teresa worked at her husband’s chiropractic office and was a founder of the Mt. Carmel Nursery School in Watervliet with her dear friend Raenn Mokey. There, she was affectionately known as “Miss Teddy” She was a communicant of the former St. Patricks’ Church in Watervliet, and she enjoyed cooking, baking, and playing golf and bocce. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandson Noah; her prince. She is survived by her daughter Lisa (Brian Caney) Tyrka, grandson Noah Caney, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service at 6 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park.
