John C. Proctor, age 82 of Halfmoon passed away peacefully on Sunday March 2, 2014 at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness. He was born on August 30, 1931, the son of the late John and Delphine Proctor. He was predeceased by his siblings Evalee Christianson, and Leonard, Robert, and William Proctor, and grandson Steven Proctor. John served as a paratrooper in the US Army. He was a former Waterford police officer, and retired after 30 years as a project manager for the St. Regis Paper Co. in Scotia. He was a past fire chief of the West Crescent Fire Dept., and was a member of the American Legion Post 1450 in Halfmoon. He loved car racing and boating, and most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Ann Proctor, daughters Linda Wright, and Patricia Daignault, sons John (Vicki) Proctor, Steven (Helen) Proctor, Wayne (Nancy) Proctor, Rick (Derrie) Proctor, Keith Proctor, and Kevin (Karen) O’ Brien. He is also survived by sisters Mary Erno and Doris Wooster, brothers George and Fred Proctor, 19 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a service on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hopsice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
