Lewis J. Joels, Jr., age 65 of Troy passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Lewis and Sally Rowe Joels. He was predeceased by his sister Anna Joels, and his brother Johnny Rowe.

Lou was raised by his grandparents, Plesant and Blanche Rowe after his parents passed away when he was three years old. He was a member of the Electrician’s IBEW Local 236 in Albany and worked at Portec in Troy for 20 years. He enjoyed sports and the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping, and played on a semi pro football team. He taught children how to swim and dive for many years, and looked forward to playing Santa Claus at Christmas time.

He is survived by his wife, Krista Joels, son Lewis D. Joels, daughters Guilana M. Joels, Christina Parnell, and son William Parnell, brother William Rowe, sister Guilana Bender, and brother Darwin Joels. He is also survived by grandchildren Ciersten LeClair, Jeffrey Morgan II, Tyana Joels, Jonah Joels, Sidra McBain, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins as well as great-nieces and nephews.

To all of my friends and family; “peace and love”.
