Carolyn J. Elia, age 73 of Malta passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Born in 1943, she was the daughter of the late James and Marie Dempsey. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Elia, daughter Cheryl Ann Halliday, and her brothers James and Timothy Dempsey.

Carolyn was a longtime resident of Crescent. She enjoyed many years working for the Shenendehowa Central School District.

She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Jordan, Cathleen Espey and her husband Kevin, and nephew Greg Dempsey and his wife Becky. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amanda Willett and her husband Joe, Timothy Jordan Jr. and his wife Kristen, Jon Jordan, Kevin Espey Jr., Bradly Espey, and great-grandchildren Dempsey, Nicholas, Lilah, and Olivia, and her companion Joseph “Pat” Kelly.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9 in Clifton Park with a funeral service Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or by going to StJude.org.
