Obituary of Sophie Malinoski

Sophie Malinoski, age 94 of Halfmoon passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 30, 2018. Born on April 27, 1924 in Halfmoon, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Pauline Pingelski. She was predeceased by her husband Edward F. Malinoski, and siblings John, Edward, Stephen, Anna, Joseph, William, Adam, and Helen.

 

Sophie worked in the Shenendehowa cafeteria for many years and spent most of her life at home taking care of her family. She enjoyed gardening and loved to cook with all of her fruits and vegetables. She was well known for her blueberry pie.

 

She is survived by her daughters Sharon Malinoski, Linda (Lawrence) Rowse, Donna Marshall, son Edward (Donna) Malinoski, sister Stasia (Ellis) Hayner, and brother Frank (Amelia) Pingelski. She is also survived  and cherished by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

 

In the whole world there could not be a better mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, or friend than Sophie. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will never be forgotten.

 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a service on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Waterford.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clifton Park Fire Department, 38 Old Route 146, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
