Obituary of Richard B. Hockford

Richard B. Hockford, age 72 of Clifton Park passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Albany. Born on December 8, 1945 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary Hockford. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Pearl.

 Richard graduated from Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School in Schenectady, NY in 1965. While attending he was part of the basketball team. He then went on to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-68. He spent his career working for the US Postal Service for over 40 years. He enjoyed bowling, and taking trips to Indian Lake where he loved to fish and hike. He also was an avid sports fan, and loved to watch his two favorite teams the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years; Le Hockford, sons Larry (Jennifer) Hockford, and Matt (Heather) Hockford, his daughter Linda (David) Hockford Hayes, and his grandchildren Zachary, Kayla, and Malana.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and all of the staff of the 9B floor of the VA Hospital in Albany for providing the best care to Richard.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 23rd from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9 in Clifton Park. The funeral service will be private. Burial will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery.
